Draft Profile: Jalen Reagor
- Height: 5’11”
- Weight: 195lb
- College: TCU
- Tape watched: Texas (2018 & 2019), Oklahoma State, West Virginia
- NFL Comparison: T.Y. Hilton
Pros
- Catch Radius
Extremely impressive ability to track and catch footballs that shouldn’t be caught. He has great body control to contort into the necessary position to make plays on errant throws. At TCU, Reagor had a lot of opportunities to showcase this as a result of bad quarterback play.
- Route Running
Reagor has great footwork to set up his routes. He has sharp and defined cuts after his route stem, and utilizes head fakes well. He creates good separation out of his breaks with his burst and acceleration. Speed shows up on deep routes. He shows the ability to hand-fight defenders to keep them from holding him.
- Release
All of his steps have purpose upon snap. He sets up defenders well with his footwork, and his burst does the rest. Uses hands well when pressed.
- Combat Catches
Reagor shows good poise across the middle of the field. When he is able to come back to the ball, he boxes out well and has strong hands to secure tough catches. Deeper route contests have presented a different challenge though.
- Athleticism
Reagor is a great all-around athlete. He possesses true field-stretching speed, lateral agility, and what seem to be good hops on tape. He can do a lot after the catch. The combine should further improve his draft stock.
Cons
- Body Position
Poor quarterback-play at TCU plays a part, but Reagor can help himself out by working on his body position in contested situations. If Reagor isn’t able to work back to a throw, defenders have been able to put him in poor position to make plays on the ball.
- Drops
Reagor has great hands, with one of the greatest catch radii in the class. However, concentration drops have come and gone at TCU. Specifically, over the shoulder catch situations with cornerbacks contesting have given Reagor issues. Non-conventional hand catches can improve at the next level.
Overview
A consistent play-maker with the ball, Jalen Reagor could be this draft’s Deebo Samuel. With a consistent NFL-caliber quarterback, Reagor could be outright dangerous. His ability to catch any ball in his vicinity, great athleticism, and the separation he creates, Jalen Reagor has first-round value.
