Draft Profile: Aaron Fuller
- Height: 5’10”
- Weight: 188lb
- College: Washington
- Tape watched: Arizona, California, Boise State
Pros
- Release
Very explosive off the line of scrimmage, Aaron Fuller has good footwork and short strides that get to top speed instantly. He eats up ground under safeties better than most receivers in this class.
Fuller struggled pretty heavily with press coverage at Washington. When corners got hands on him they drove him out of the play. With short arms, Fuller struggles to win hand fights.
If he can work out of the slot and get a free release, he creates a lot of separation underneath the secondary.
- Footwork/Agility
Quicker than fast, Fuller has fast feet and dominates in space. He has good hips and lateral agility to make defenders miss in the open field. He accelerates to top speed quickly, and can stop just as fast. - YAC
With good lateral quickness and great contact balance, Fuller is good at gaining extra yards with the football. He is a solid football player for his smaller frame, and can make guys miss in space.
Cons
- Hands
Aaron Fuller looks most comfortable catching the football with his body, especially across the middle of the field. This creates the opportunities for the football to bounce off of him for drops. Fuller doesn’t appear to find the football quickly on crossing routes.
Securing the football seems to be an issue as well for Fuller. He makes you hold your breath after the catch watching the ball wiggle around in his possession. He has not been great in contested catch situations. - Route Tree
Although used at multiple receiver spots, Fuller looked limited with his route tree. Posts, seams, and drag routes are where Fuller excels as a route runner. - True Speed
While Fuller accelerates to his top speed extremely well, he doesn’t maintain separation down field. All of his deep routes had good coverage that was able to stride with him. The combine will prove his straight-line speed.
Overview
The lack of natural hands, size, and true speed limits the usage of Aaron Fuller at the next level. He is limited to the slot in the NFL, but will need to work on beating press coverage and catching the ball in tight windows. He offers great footwork, burst, and evasiveness if he finds his way into offensive reps.
