Draft Analysis: Parker Washington
- Height: 5’10”
- Weight: 204 lb
- College: Penn State
- Tape watched: Ohio State, Auburn (2021), Ohio, Michigan
- NFL Comparison: Laveranues Coles
Pros
- Hands
Excellent hands with excellent stats to back it up, Washington catches everything. He has one of the more natural feels to how he catches the football. He makes contested catches and catches far outside of his frame.
- Route Running
What he lacks in speed and burst, he makes up for with his football IQ. Parker Washington has a great feel for defenses and how to change his routes based on coverage and depth. He ran a varied route tree at Penn State and will fit in most offenses in the NFL.
- YAC
Parker Washington is just a football player. He is tough to tackle and has great hips to slip tackles. Washington is the kind of guy you want in your receiver group.
Midline
- Release
Washington’s lack of high-end burst shows up most in his release. Press can give him issues at times. He is physical, though, and that makes up for a lot at the line of scrimmage.
Cons
- Speed
- With no testing numbers from this offseason, all we have is the tape for Washington’s deep speed. The tape isn’t promising. Washington struggles to take the top off of defenses.
- Size
Short and stocky, Washington lacks height and catch-radius. He has short arms that could limit the types of NFL throws in close coverage that he can get to.
Overview
Parker Washington projects as a reliable third option for an NFL team. He does enough across the middle of the field to be a trusted asset in the slot. He is a defined route runner with great hands.
Washington’s athletic profile likely limits him to a slot role, but reliable slot receivers are a hot commodity.
