Draft Analysis: Chatarius “Tutu” Atwell

  • Height: 5’9″
  • Weight: 155lbs
  • College: Louisville
  • Tape watched: Miami, Georgia Tech
  • NFL Comparison: Dri Archer

Pros

Chatarius “TuTu” Atwell is one of the fastest receivers in the 2021 NFL draft. His ability to find space quickly from the slot is a major advantage. He drives seams and post routes extremely well due to his burst and smooth speed across the field. He tracks the ball very well over his shoulders and has good hands in most situations. His route running is smooth and precise, and he is exceptional at finding holes in zone coverage and staying available for his quarterback.

Cons

Measuring 5’9″ and a disappointing 155lbs, Atwell’s size is a major concern paired with his tape. He almost always goes down after first contact. He is dangerous to throw to in traffic with an inability to protect the football with his body and being subject to hits that will dislodge the ball. Louisville’s offense featured Atwell as a misdirection, motion read player often.

Overview

For TuTu Atwell to thrive in the NFL, he likely needs to end up on a team that will create space post-catch for him. He will be confined to the slot and mixed with motion plays to allow him a free release off the line. He is a dynamic athlete, able to disappear behind defenses with the snap of a finger. He could be a big playmaker, but there are serious risks in drafting a player of his stature.
