Pros
- Athleticism
An All-American heptathlete, Andrei Iosivas is the one of the most athletic receiver in the 2023 NFL draft. With a Relative Athletic Score of 9.96, Iosivas has the 16th (out of 2875 receivers) best overall athletic score since 1987. He has great size and speed to stretch the field. He can also jump with the best of who the NFL can offer.
- Size
A true 6’3″, Iosivas has a great frame that carries well on the field. He has room to add muscle, too. He does really well jumping into defenders and using his advantageous size at the catch point.
Midline
- RAC
Stiff hips prevent Iosivas from being a feared ball carrier. That isn’t to say he doesn’t create enough after the catch, rather he just lacks elite lateral movement. He is capable of finding run lanes to slip through and really opening up his strides. Iosivas will fight for extra yards and fall forward often.
- Hands
No drop concerns from Iosivas, rather a concern for the amount of body catches he completes. He has 9th percentile hand size, which can partly explain the lack of high point plays he finishes in the air.
- Route Running
Bordering Con territory, Iosivas did not display a nuanced route tree with detail in his techniques. He relied heavily on his deep speed to beat corners several yards off the line of scrimmage. The burst in and out of his route breaks does not match up with his athletic testing. Iosivas was more of a glider with one play speed.
Cons
- Release
Iosivas is extremely limited with the lack of explosiveness off the line. He shows late hands during press, and that’s where his hand usage ends. There is very little fire or burst from Iosivas.
- Blocking
There is not much to write home about Iosivas and his blocking. He has minimal examples of setting up blocks and creating running lanes.
Overview
Andrei Iosivas has the athletic profile alone that will ensure he is drafted next week. In terms of traits, he has all of them. The places Iosivas falls short are the actual nuances of playing receiver. Can he create separation without relying on pure speed? Will he continue to make contested catches against elite talent? Can he be trusted as a perimeter receiver?
